We are an Oregon labor union dedicated to building a community human services system that puts community participants, workers, and compassionate, effective solutions before profits. Together we WILL build a better tomorrow not only for ourselves but the communities we serve!
Addressing Oregon’s behavioral health crisis (in addition to housing and substance use crises) means supporting the human service professionals who are critical to the health and well-being of our communities. But with growing caseloads, turnover, stagnant pay, unsafe working conditions, and poor outcomes for our clients, one thing is clear: the human service industry isn’t going to change unless care providers fight for better care.
Oregon AFSCME represents thousands of behavioral health/human service professionals all motivated by a shared mission to help our clients/participants and communities heal. Coming together as a movement, we can improve our working conditions and provide the best possible care for our communities.
A strong and equitable community human service/behavioral health system can empower people to survive, recover, and thrive in a changing, challenging world. We aspire to a system that puts healing first as we work towards concrete solutions that will allow behavioral health professionals to deliver the quality care that clients/participants and their families deserve.
Join the movement for a community behavioral health system that puts healing first!
