OHSU and Postdoc Workers United: Tentative Agreement Reached
Offers included salary increases above NIH increases and paid leave for international members.
Postdoc Workers United and OHSU are pleased to announce that on Aug. 15, they reached tentative agreement on establishing a new contract for postdocs. Highlights from the tentative agreement include:
- A salary schedule above the NIH’s current salary table, including a commitment of an increase of 6% after ratification, and annually thereafter increases of 3.5% in years two, three and four.
- A $2,000 one-time lump sum payment if ratified prior to Aug. 31, 2024.
- Additional supports for postdocs with international visas including reimbursement for initial and renewal visa fees, up to ten days of additional paid leave accessible to eligible international postdocs. More accessibility and visibility to benefits and resources for postdocs such as DEI trainings, income verification forms, leave/accommodation, relocation reimbursement, and support for utilization of NIH Family Friendly Incentives.
- Increased access to paid time off.
- Commitment to a joint labor management committee.
Now, members will vote to ratify the new contract and will hear more soon. If ratified, the contract will become effective the second full pay period after ratification. This is a huge accomplishment, and we appreciate the dedication and collaboration of both bargaining teams for their time spent reaching this agreement and their support of our valued people.
