October 15th wraps up a nationwide celebration of our Latin/Hispanic history and vibrant culture. Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated through October 15th. We would like to take this opportunity to celebrate our Latinx members and their amazing contributions to the communities we’ve built in the U.S. The Latinx Caucus would like to do a special shout-out to Michael Martinez and Victoria Mendoza Gonzalez, who have gone above and beyond to grow the strength of their union.

El 15 de Octubre concluye el Mes de la Herencia Hispana, una celebración a nivel nacional de nuestra historia latina/hispana y nuestra cultura. El Mes de la Herencia Hispana se celebra hasta el 15 de octubre y nos gustaría aprovechar esta oportunidad para celebrar a nuestros miembros Latinos y sus increíbles contribuciones a las comunidades que hemos construido en los EE. UU. El Comite Latino esta especialmente celebrando historias como las de Michael Martinez y Victoria Mendoza Gonzales , quienes dedican arduo trabajo para crecer la fuerza de su sindicato.

I am Mexican, I came to this country to find a better life. I joined the union 14 years ago in order to help other providers like me who had debts and problems navigating the childcare system. I am proud we have achieved so much like improved child care rates, retirement and a path to state-funded healthcare for our members and their families.
Being Latino means having a common history with each culture that represents a mixture of language and traditions.
Soy Mexicana, vine a este país a buscar una vida mejor. Me uní al sindicato hace 14 años para ayudar a otros proveedores como yo que tenían deudas y problemas para navegar el sistema de cuidado infantil. Estoy orgulloso de haber logrado tanto como mejores tasas de cuidado infantil, jubilación y un camino hacia la atención médica financiada por el estado para nuestros miembros y sus familias.
Ser Latino significa tener una historia común con cada cultura que representa una mezcla de lenguas y tradiciones.
